Chapter 1. Roy/LeRoy/Roy dit desJardins - Saindon/Sindon -
Morin - Hebert - Caron - Talbot - Lanoue
Morin - Hebert - Caron - Talbot - Lanoue
This website is dedicated to my late sister, Sister Veronica Mary Roy CSJ, who compiled two (now out-of-print) genealogy books:
Ma Famille: - Hebert - Frigon - St. Peter - Morin - Senesac 1699-1994, and
Our Saindon Cousins 1718 - 1990
My sister died an untimely death from a two-car accident in 1995 and before the two of us could take a trip to Quebec, Canada together. I could not have found as much information as I did in a short amount of time (names, dates, places in Quebec) without my sister's prior research of our ancestry. How pleased she would be to know that her initial research enabled me to continue her research via the internet. To date I have traced up to the year 1030.
I'm not finished. It requires footwork, time and diligence, but I give full credit to Sister Veronica Mary for her inspiration.
Several siblings, cousins, other relatives and friends have expressed an interest in traveling to Canada in preparation for documenting our genealogy and/or retracing the footsteps of our ancestors. No sense "re-inventing the wheel." Hopefully, this website will be a work in progress where others can provide information and photos to this website so that in time we will have a visual map of where to go the next time one of us wants to walk in the footsteps of our ancestral roots. Not only in the province of Quebec, Canada, but in Normandy, France. It was my dream to re-live the tranquil pace, and way of life, of bygone years - 1800, 1700. In doing research, I found it wasn't tranquil, but in fact rugged. I'm delighted to find it possible to retrace our oftentimes brutal history into the 9th century due to other diligent genealogists.
If you have photos of ancestors, or photos of tombstones of our French Canadian and/or Norman ancestors found in the cities or countryside of Quebec or Normandy please let me know. If you detect any discrepancies I would appreciate knowing and will correct this webpage. Please go to the Contact page at the end to enter your comments on how this website could be modified and improved, or you may contact me directly.
